Our mission

Katie and Steve met in 2005 when they both helped open Slate Ridge Elementary School in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Steve served in a dual role that year as the school's Speech and Language Pathologist and Reading Intervention Coordinator while Katie was a first grade classroom teacher. The two of them quickly realized they shared similar passions and beliefs for helping kids learn to read and began collaborating on a regular basis. Four years later, in 2009, they launched to extend their mission of helping all kids read and helping educators and parents everywhere.

"I just started working with my 1st grader with /oe/ last night and it was amazing to watch the light bulb go off in her head! She loved mapping the sounds and doing the flash cards. And I was surprised just how quickly she caught on to the "decoding."  In less than 1 hour she had all 40 words down! I WISH WE LEARNED THIS IN COLLEGE!"
