About Miss Appel I have learned so much from all of the schools I have taught in and most importantly, the students I have worked with...My students have made me the teacher I am today. I like to stay up on current Best Practices so I read a lot and try new things.  Congrats to Miss Appel's Second Graders! During the week of August 31st we had the most SOAR Sightings! The "unnamed" Firebird will remain in our classroom during the week of September 7th!
 Check Out Darian! Second Graders at French Run listen to President Obama's speech during lunch. Miss Appel's Darian Patterson made the front cover of the Columbus Dispatch!

As you are helping your child at home with reading and spelling, this template may help you! It contains all of the vowel "overlaps" in the English Language. When your child gets stuck on a word, have them locate the sound picture and try it's variations to see which one makes sense. - 2nd Grade Pacing Charts (Quarters 1-3) for Reading, Writing, & Math

We are learning how to use different strategies to add and subtract 2 and 3 digit whole numbers. You may find the above helpful to keep as a reference at home throughout the remainder of the year.

Explains the math program that has been adopted by our school and lets you know about the "homelinks" that will be sent home frequently. - Student Photo Book
The above explains the first home project that your child will be completing in Second Grade. Photo books will be handed out during the first week of school. Assignment due Friday, September 11th.
